Man, give me a classic giallo flick any day of the week. You’re guaranteed plenty of violence and gorgeous gals.
The Girl in Room 2A (or simply Girl in Room 2A, depending on what movie poster you’re looking at) is everything you would expect from a 70s era Italian exploitation film. Right from the start, viewers are hit in the kisser with the bloody killing of a topless beauty at the hands of masked murderer.
The plot is nothing special: A recently paroled beautiful young woman takes up shelter in what seems to be a halfway house of sorts. But the house is also home to a sadistic cult that revels in the torture and execution of—you guessed it—beautiful young women.
What doesn’t make sense about the story is that our lead character, Margaret (played by Daniela Giordano), suspects almost from the beginning that people within the house want to kill her. Yet, despite being able to leave whenever she pleases, Margaret keeps going back to the house each evening, awaiting whatever horrors the night has for her.
But hey, I’m not going to let a weak plot with holes punched in it everywhere run me off, not when there’s bright red blood and bare breasts in need of my attention.
The masked character you see pictured above is sufficiently creepy. There is a minor twist at the end of the film when this person is unmasked, but fails to be a truly shocking moment because the plot was so thin to begin with. As I’ve said over and over in this short review, that’s not what we’re here for.
My only true complaint would be about the dubbing. As mentioned earlier, it’s an Italian film, and the version available on Tubi, where I watched it, is dubbed not subbed. Sometimes the dubbing is fine, but other times the audio is difficult to hear. And then there are a handful of times where parts of the conversation switch back to Italian for seemingly no reason at all.

The Girl in Room 2A scores a nice 47 on the PHEMSA. It’s good exploitative fun. Turn off your brain, grab a beer, and prepare for blood and boobs. Check it out on Tubi!
